Becoming decided on the subject on your blog is just the first step in effective blogging. Next thing you have to do is to know what particular aspect of your intended subject you should write about.

Thinking positively, you must see your first blog post as the first of many. And since you have to make subsequent write-ups on your post, it should be helpful to your niche. Try to find out if there are already posts on your topic and what areas are left about it that’s still unexplored on the web. Remember, whatever you post will add to the world’s pool of knowledge, so be sensible.

Readers wouldn’t want to read about the same topic twice. In blogging, always remember to think about your readers first. You should center your blog on what your readers would want to read and write your topic around it. Ask, “If I read someone else’s blog, what stuff would I like to see?” Compose the first three sentences carefully. The first few sentences make up the introduction of your content. Choose appealing words or keywords to represent the rest of your content.

To make your content helpful to your readers, make it informative and educational. People like to try new things especially if it’s something that interests them. Straighten your facts to build credibility. Compose your content in a no-nonsense but entertaining way. Inject humor, if possible, and when necessary. Use terms that can be easily understood and explain steps or procedures carefully.

Remember to stay on the topic. Be consistent all throughout your content and don’t stray. If you want to quote somebody’s content, always give due credit to your source. Aside from avoiding plagiarism, it is also the ethical thing to do. Don’t be afraid to add links if you think they can contribute to the relevance of your content.

Readers expect you to give your opinion. This is why they visit web blogs. Your opinion gives your blog a personal touch. Don’t say one thing but mean another. Encourage readers’ participation through ratings, comments, and feedback. You will be surprised how differently people can react to a single content.

Always acknowledge your readers’ comments. A simple “thank you” will mean a lot to your reader, but if you can interact more, then it’s much better. It will make your readers feel appreciated and give them a sense of belongingness. You do want them to come back, right? Remember, it always pays to be polite.

Never forget to proofread. No matter how attractive your blog’s layout is, and you’ve got all your facts straight, incorrect grammar can destroy everything. A slight grammatical error may open your content to misinterpretation.

I think your blog article should be brief but it should contain the message which you would like to put across to your readers. Surfers are overwhelmed by the magnitude of information available online. Thus they tend to look for blog articles which are easy to digest.
