There has been quite an extensive round of debate on Google preparing to launch a mobile phone. It was also heard that the search engine giant is meeting up top-notch cell phone manufacturers to make a start on the wireless front. It was pretty much expected out of Google as a take on its long time rival-Apple. Very recently, Google has partnered with its direct competitor, Apple for providing maps and some other applications for the iPhone.

According to the latest report published on the Wall Street Journal, Google has formulated an archetype mobile phone that could possibly hit the markets by next year with strong marketing plans such as advertisements on websites and some popular software applications. It might also come up with unlimited usage plans in order to lure the target audiences in switching to the Google phone. At the moment, Google is looking around for the right model in compliance with a lot of big names when it comes to network operations. It is almost on completion, with some alterations on the technical side to make a unique web browsing experience on the mobile that can outdo its competitors.

There are some who claim the Google phone thing to be nothing more than a rumor, but the records show that the same kinds of rumors existed before the launch of the apple’s iPhone. On the whole, there is a lot of cynicism about Google’s feasibility in the cellular market. Techno giants like Google can with all possibility work on different projects and remain in the beta stages for a long time. There are also speculations on the revenue-generating model as each Google phone will have to go through a lot of advertisement and that might end up frustrating the users. As far as the Google phone is concerned, there are a lot of questions amongst the technology world but there are awfully few answers. But the only thing certain is the use of several Wi-Fi networks that cater to those civilians who do not mind a range of advertisements for getting free web connections. Google is already working out something with the mobile phone carriers like T-Mobile and Verizon. And it has also commented on bidding for a wireless license in the United States, which could turn out to be the first step towards acquiring a cellular network.

Obviously, in the coming months, Google will surely make a move ahead based on the company’s priorities. It will put some tremendous marketing plans for the people so that it can dominate the mobile market all by itself. But at the moment, it’s just the rumor and nothing officially cited by Google. It has openly refused of coming up with a phone with its own brand. So there is still sometime before we get to see the actual Google phone in the mobile world.

I really look foward to googles phone (if it is actually real). If they do decide to go mobile I will definitley purchase one I think anything from google would be much stronger than an iPhone. nice post keep up the good work :)

It would be interesting to see google get into the cell phone market. Its not really their niche. They are really good at innovating so if any company can pull it off it should be them.

I’m not really sure what Google could offer the mobile industry really. Apple gave us their offering and it left a bitter taste in the mouth of many consumers who bought it. If Google are to release a phone I imagine they would introduce some sort of Youtube exclusivity to it… That or offer free phones with Google Ads on them.

There is a rumor about Google might be working with HTC and mobile/telecom giant Orange to build a Google Mobile Phone, which could possibly have Google software inside the device, and would be able to do many of the web tasks smartly.

So, we just wait and see.

I think Google’s direction is geared towards penetrating the mobile industry. The mobile phone is expected to be the miniaturized computer in the near future and Google is preparing for this. One indication is its rumored acquisition of a telco company and its apparent tie up with big players in the telecommunication industry.

According to Wall Street Journal, Google is planning to offer free mobile subscriptions, subsidized by ads in search results and software applications. This will be viability in a competitive mobile market.

Anywhere, the Google phone story sounds like the rumors.
