Over the years of the World Wide Web, many forms of file sharing protocols have both come and gone, however, bit torrent seems to be not going anywhere any time soon. There are literally countless variables and possibilities associated with the areas of use that one could benefit from the bit torrent protocol.

If you want to see a movie, but do not have the time to go out and get it, you can simply start a download, go to bed, and when you wake up, its there waiting for you. The biggest problem though, is the simple fact that most people do not want to watch the public domain films, instead they want to see the latest blockbuster release. This becomes an issue due to the fact that the latest blockbuster release is under numerous copyright laws. By downloading this file you make yourself open to possible legal actions.

But lets forget about the movies, lets go way back to the beginning of the bit torrent protocol and its original intended use. Software! Around the world, there are literally millions of newbie software developers producing programs to make their life simpler. Once they try these programs, and are satisfied with the results, they could then offer it to the world under a GNU license. Unfortunately, if they were to pay for a server and host a website to offer this new program, they have to also fork over the money to cover the costs imposed by the ISP and webhoster.

Thanks to the bit torrent protocol and indexing websites, that same programmer, could go to the indexing site, take some time talking about their program in the comments section and then offer the program through the torrent protocol. Move ahead a couple years, and now not only can they go by the torrent way, but they can also find a free web hosting service that offers database and PHP services, place that program on the server along with an online web-based bit torrent client and they are set to go with out the massive overhead associated with the venture.

This is important as items released under GNU, are free to use and therefore, the programmer does not make the money from the program to cover the added costs. Then if you take also into account that the various bit torrent indexing websites also get frequented by the search engine bots more frequently than you could get to a personal website, you could very well be sharing your program with the world within a matter of days instead of months or years.

This is just one of the many possibilities one could come up with in using the bit torrent clients for their file sharing needs. There are many more, but due to the overwhelming number of possibilities, it is easier to just tell you about one and let you decide what areas that the bit torrent protocol will work best for your personal needs.

In this article I’m going to talk about starting and promoting a social network. Social networks are groups that people can go to or attend and become a part and exchange social interaction. These groups can range in different ways and things. Social groups can be online where you meet in a chat room or a group on a site such as MySpace or some other forum. Or social networking can be a face to face thing, The face to face social networks I find are the best, and are the most effective way to do things. They are fun, exciting, fresh and new. So let talk about that first.

First you need to find something that interests you. Something that could interest you could be a business that your running, a job type, a hobby, etc. Once you find the thing that you like you will need to find a place to host your social network. The best types of places I’ve found are place like coffee shops, etc. I know of a coffee shop in Denver that allows you to have gatherings here free as long as everyone buy drinks. Think of that! I’m sitting in that shop right now. So you find a place that you can host at, some places to look also are bars, restaurants, libraries, social clubs and more. You find the place now you need to promote it, and that’s the heart of what this article is all about.

Promoting your network can happen in a variety of ways. For any social network to be productive you need to have good promotion. One way is word of mouth, say you’re starting a computer interest group. Look for techie and tell them, and tell there theres going to be free food or there’s going to be other things there. This will bring and drive attention to your group, then tell them to tell their friends about what you have going, the word will spread quickly.

The next thing I’d suggest you do is some online advertising. Places like Craig’s list allows advertising for free. You can actually go on their sites and post social gatherings and groups without having to pay money. Chats that are centered on specific areas are also awesome places to post advertisements. Next thing I would look at is print media. There are many options for print media. You can put things in magazines and newspapers that are dedicated to the type of group your starting. Like for instance hackers (whether ethical or not) can advertise in 5280 the hacker magazine for free. Or look at things like sections in your local newspaper. So no matter the budget you have, you can start a social network cheaply and at a good rate. I’m looking forward to seeing more groups pop up, start one today!

Digg.com a company and website that was founded three years by two technopiles is expanding into a social network environment. Now on Digg people that share the same type of interests will be able to network and get together. More and more sites are moving toward this direction as time progresses. The success of sites such as facebook or MySpace has created a need and a vacuum for this industry. Digg users will be able to not only speak to the user that share same interests but send shout’s out, or news articles to other users who have the same interests selected.

How is this to come to past? By the end of October dig will be launching its photo only section. This section will allow likeminded users to be able to post things to certain areas of the website. These pictures would be available only to users of the same interest group. Most of the other change that are to come out will happen by year’s end. Some other exciting features that are coming to digg is the ability for people to chat with other people of same interests and “friends.’ Message boards are the next biggest thing that is coming to dig, message boards will act like a ‘wall’ where people can send messages back and forth to one another.

The next newest thing to come to dig is the introduction of profile pages. Profile pages will become a huge thing on digg as digg places a higher emphasis on those pages. Now I don’t believe that digg will go the MySpace route, MySpace is more for personal socializing though it can serve many many different business purposes if it wishes to do so. However digg is especially focused towards techies so this will be an all new level of profiling. Expect to see flash, expect to see some html and other advanced coding languages as people begin using their skills to show off to other technopiles.

The other major thing that’s happening on Digg is the advertisement deal that was just signed. Microsoft will be the sole advertiser on the site now. Now I’d hate to have to guess how much cash digg just made by putting Microsoft on as its sole advertiser, but I’m not sure what that will do with the site. I mean, c’mon how many products does Microsoft have? How many products do they make? There’s only so much Microsoft that a man can see. And only so much Microsoft that a man can deal with, however it will be interesting to see what directions the ads go and how this contract is put to past.

So, social networkers! You now have a new site to go to, especially if you’re a techie. Looking forward to the features that were released on September 19th, the features coming in October and the features coming at the end of the year. Social networking will be a great activity on digg, so what are you waiting for, sign up today!!!

One of the world’s most popular peer-to-peer file sharing programs available today is known as the BitTorrent. This network is designed to allow for the distribution of a large amount of file data without the need of the additional distributor of the BitTorrent files that there the entire cost of hosting bandwidth and hardware. The files are split into many smaller files that have been spread out between all the various people that are downloading it as well as uploading it so that the newer recipients are able to access the file to another person’s personal computer without the need of a server.

The usage of the BitTorrent protocol has been estimated to account for a large amount of the Internet traffic today, but unfortunately this amount is unable to be proven, due to the difficulty of monitoring. Although originally, the BitTorrent was the only version of the client available, today there are many different, BitTorrent clients available on different programming platforms, as well as development languages.

Through this network, each individual client is capable of requesting, preparing as well as transmitting any type of computer file that they see fit over the network. When a new bighorn files created a, a torrent file is also created which contains the various data about the file and who has what pieces. After creating a new BitTorrent file, they uploaded to more than many areas, BitTorrent websites, who in turn track the file on their server in order to reduce the strain on the various personal computers.

On like utilizing HTP he get request, the BitTorrent peer-to-peer program creates multiple requests over a variety of TCP sockets in order to download the rarest file bit first. This network creates a lower-cost, yet higher redundancy than that of the normal HTTP server. Due to the fact that it takes a fair amount of time to create all the connections, downloads take a little bit of time to get up to full speed. However, due to the ability of create multiple streams have the same exact moment, when the BitTorrent is finally reach its highest speed is considered to be much faster, than to download from an HTTP server.

One of the biggest down for us about utilizing of BitTorrent form of peer-to-peer network is that you are unable to progressively download, or to play any of the music that you are downloading during a download itself.

Unfortunately, the use of the BitTorrents software has also led to higher probability of downloading pirated software or movies. Each and every day, the number of pirated movies or software increases due to an inability to stop the transfers once they have begun. The reason for this is that in order to stop the transfer is completely, they really have to take each and every bit of the file offer up all of the various users to have pieces.

With the release of new movies in theaters, one can find a BitTorrent file that is a pirated version of a movie that is still in theaters in which you will see some times, over 10,000 sources of this particular file. However, one of the benefits of utilizing the BitTorrent client, is that the servers that track the various bits of information are also able to protect users from accidentally downloading the update data files, unless the initial file included a virus or corruption.
