If you’re all about living life in the fast lane, but you’re computer won’t let you because it’s slowing you down one way or another, there are plenty of things that can be done. Many of today’s computer problems can be cured with just one click, while other’s take some creativity to figure out what’s wrong.
1. Problem: Lagging Wi-Fi Network
Solution: If you are experiencing a slower Wi-Fi network for some reason or other then chances are that it will be relatively easy to fix the problem. Unless your whole internet connection is out due to an unpaid internet service provider bill then most likely what you are experiencing is Wi-Fi interference coming from something else in the building. You may want to try moving the router slightly to the left or to the right. Or perhaps you may try to clear out the space around your internet router as much as possible so there is less interference. While these solutions usually always work, the problem may also be, however, a crowded channel. If you have never done this before, you can change the specific channel of your internet router through its configuration page.
2. Problem: Your Computer Printer is Going Awry
Solution: Everyone experiences a printer that’s having a bad day every once in a while. They key, however, is to fix the problem before it gets even worse and you get even more frustrated. If you keep trying to print something then you must stop immediately. Turn the printer off for a minute to let it rest and cool and then power it back on. In the meantime, what might work is manually going into the Printer and Faxes folder to delete anything in the Printing Queue.
3. Problem: Slow Computer Start-up
Solution: There are actually many reasons for why a computer may be taking its sweet old time to power up and load your desktop. However, the majority of the time the problem is that too many applications are starting up at one time when you load your desktop’s operating system. For this problem you’ll need to go into “msconfig” box to deselect all of the programs that you don’t want starting up. Most computer users don’t know this simple trick, but it’ll certainly cure a slow start-up!
4. Problem: Missing Keyboard Keys
Solution: This is also a common problem, but many people are simply annoyed because one of their keyboard’s keys has broken off for one reason or another. A suggestion here, though, would be either to buy an inexpensive new keyboard. Or, if you can’t afford one, try taking the key mechanism off of one of the keyboard keys that you rarely use to put it in the other key’s place.
5. Very Large Icons in All Folders
Solution: For some reason or another you may be seeing really large icons in your folders through the Windows Explorer option. However, one way to cure this for all of your folders is to go into the Folder Options from the Tools menu, click the View tab, and then select “Apply to All Folders.” This will fix the large icons and then you’ll remember for the next time!
